Changes

Has God been shifting some things around in your life? Taking you from your familiar routine and maybe it doesn’t feel good?

Well, we tend to be a creature of habit, always wanting things to remain the same, we want what feels comfortable, and we simply don’t like to embrace change. So, maybe it appears that God is shifting some things around in your life and maybe it’s not going the way you would have liked or planned.

Exodus 14:10 says, When Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked up, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and the Israelites were exceedingly frightened and cried out to the Lord.

Does that sound familiar? That is what we sometimes do when we are taken out of our comfortable position, we become fearful or worried.

Verse 11-12 says, and they said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way and brought us out of Egypt? Did we not tell you in Egypt, let us alone; let us serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

The Israelites did not like the changes that would take place; they wanted to go back to what was familiar. Just as we do, we sometimes want to be left in our comfortable position, a place where we are familiar with the routine. The Israelites began to lack faith in God and their fear caused them to forget what He had had already done in their lives. Have you also been lacking faith in God? Has fear or worry caused you to forget what God has already brought you through? God says, “I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the very close and consummation of the age.” And He will never in any way fail you nor give up nor leave you without support. He says, (I will) not, (I will) not (I will) not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let (you) down (relax My hold on you)!

God wants to elevate you to a new place that He has promised you. But in order to do that, He has to shift some things around in your life.

Verse 13-14 says, Moses told the people, “Fear not; stand still (firm confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.”

Do not worry; be still, have faith, for God is positioning you for what He is about to do in your life. Reflect on what He has already done and know that He is a God who is faithful to His promises.

Verse 15-20 (paraphrased) says, The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to go forward! Lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it; and the Israelites shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. The Egyptians shall realize that I am the Lord when I have gained honor and glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen. And the Angel of God Who went before the host of Israel moved and went behind them; and a pillar of the cloud went from before them and stood behind them. Coming between the host of Egypt and host of Israel was a cloud and it gave darkness to the Egyptians, but it gave light to the Israelites.”

God told Moses to tell the children of Israel to go forward. We also have to continue to move forward, though it may not feel good and it may look impossible in our own strength, but with God all things are possible. His strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in (your) weakness.

The Angel of God was traveling ahead and paving the way for the Israelites. You are not alone, that precious Angel is doing the same for you. He is traveling ahead and moving things out of the way, so that you will be able to enter this new place that God has prepared for you. So, whatever shifting around God is doing in your life, do not be afraid or worried. Put your faith not in your own ability or strength, but in God’s. He is able to (carry out His purpose and) do super abundantly, far over and above all that we (dare) ask or think (infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thought, hopes and dreams). Be still and know that He is God!

  2. Kevina - That really blessed me! It was profound and right on time. Amazing how God talks to us. My radio show topic tonight was "Transition and Change". God is consistent, isn't He? :) Thanks for being a vessel.
